Professor Day received his PhD in marine sciences from the University of North Carolina in 1971. \u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eCharles A. S. Hall\u003c\/b\u003e is Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Forestry at the State University of New York at Syracuse. He is coeditor (with John Day) of \u003ci\u003eEcosystem Modeling in Theory and Practice\u003c\/i\u003e (Wiley, 1977) and co-author (with Cutler Cleveland and Robert Kaufmann) of \u003ci\u003eEnergy and Resource Quality: The Ecology of the Economic Process\u003c\/i\u003e (Wiley, 1986). Professor Hall received his PhD in zoology from the University of North Carolina in 1970.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eW. Michael Kemp\u003c\/b\u003e is Associate Professor at Horn Point Environmental Laboratories of the University of Maryland, where he has worked since 1978. He has held positions at the University of Copenhagen, the University of Aarhus, and at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Kemp has written or coauthored numerous articles for professional journals, and he is a frequent participant in international conferences. Professor Kemp received his PhD in systems ecology from the University of Florida in 1977.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eAlejandro Yanez-Arancibia\u003c\/b\u003e is Research Scientist and Professor at the Institute of Marine Science and Limnology at the National University of Mexico, where he has been a faculty member since 1975. Dr. Yanez-Arancibia has written more than 40 scientific articles, and he has presented over 35 papers at international conferences.
