His plays include \u003ci\u003eHaunted Flowers\u003c\/i\u003e, now retitled\u003ci\u003e Handle with Care\u003c\/i\u003e (National Student Drama Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, 1985) which won the 1985 Sunday Times Playwriting Award; \u003ci\u003eStrugglers \u003c\/i\u003e(Battersea Arts Centre, 1988), which won the 1988 Sunday Times Playwriting Award; \u003ci\u003eThe Moon's the Madonna\u003c\/i\u003e (NSDF, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Battersea Arts Centre, 1989) which was shortlisted for the Independent Theatre Award and won the 1989 Company Award at the NSDF and \u003ci\u003eCan't Stand Up for Falling Down\u003c\/i\u003e(Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Hampstead Theatre, London) for which he won the Sunday Times Playwriting Award for a record third time in 1990, as well as a Scotsman Fringe First and the 1990 Independent Theatre Award. \u003ci\u003ePond Life\u003c\/i\u003e (Bush Theatre, London, 1992), \u003ci\u003eNot Fade Away\u003c\/i\u003e (Bush Theatre, 1993), \u003ci\u003eThe Mortal Ash\u003c\/i\u003e (Bush Theatre), \u003ci\u003eAlmost Grown\u003c\/i\u003e (National Theatre) and \u003ci\u003eSeven \u003c\/i\u003e(Birmingham Rep) were all performed in 1994.
