Taking its cue from Louis Brandeis' quote that 'sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants', this Handbook, the first of its kind, addresses the glaring lack of critical attention paid to far-right fiction to date.

For literally millennia, authors have used fiction to think through politics and to relay political ideas. This is also true for the far right, which has long fostered its own canon, themes and publishing outlets in producing novels and short stories. By offering analyses of these diverse undertakings, The Bloomsbury Handbook of Far-Right Fiction conclusively demonstrates that fiction is of key and growing significance. Contributors here reveal some of the ways that fiction has aided far-right recruitment and radicalisation for far-right extremism; in some cases, even motivating far-right terror. Despite such an outsized importance of fiction to the far right, surprisingly, little scholarship has been published on this subject to date.

In response, this pioneering collection addresses this lack of critical attention, both in national contexts and globally, past and present. It does so by considering a wide range of far-right fiction, 'canonical' and lesser-known authors; key themes and real-world impacts; as well as chapters focusing on specific countries and publishing houses. The Bloomsbury Handbook of Far-Right Fiction, then, provides extensive coverage on an area of abiding importance for the far right, locally and transnationally.
