Leadersmithing in Real Life

Real-world advice for senior leaders

Eve Poole

Business & Economics / General

An examination of how the leadership principles covered in Leadersmithing actually work in challenging real-life situations.

What would you do if you found yourself marooned in the ocean, with only the blueprints for a boat? Or in the middle of the jungle, with only a wildlife manual for help? How does advice you've only read about actually work in the real world? Especially when that world is challenging, fast-moving and unpredictable...

Suddenly, this was a real-time stress-test for Leadersmithing. Could the award-winning book work in two very different business contexts, and in the midst of a global health crisis? Would the theory translate into effective practice? This is the searingly honest and messy account of applying leadership lessons to real-life senior roles, played out under pressure and in the public eye, and what lessons it can teach us about the realities of leadership.

Using real-life examples from her own work, as well as commentary and lessons from other experienced leaders, Leadersmithing in Real Life looks again at key leadership issues – from delegation and managing ambiguity, to motivating and influencing others – to create a highly practical manual for anyone looking to bring positive momentum to their leadership or management role.
