Bloomsbury Handbook of Jehovah's Witnesses
George D. Chryssides | Edward Graham-Hyde
The Bloomsbury Handbook of Jehovah's Witnesses brings together experts in the field to offer a variety of perspectives on various facets of the Watch Tower organization, with contributions from office bearers, critics, and independent academic scholars, offering a detailed overview of the Society in a global context.
Topics include the origins and precursors of the Watch Tower Society, its distinctive beliefs and practices and their development through time, evangelization work, the role of women and children, and the organisation's critics and opponents. Also explored are the developments arising from the advent of the internet and the COVID pandemic, and controversial issues such as conscientious objection, blood transfusion, disfellowshipping and shunning, and, most recently, sexual abuse.
The book aims to be not only scholarly, but also readily intelligible by students and general readers who may previously be merely superficially acquainted with Jehovah's Witnesses.
