S code is eminently readable\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eand so a good way to document precisely what algorithms were used, and\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eas much of the implementations are themselves written in S, they can be\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003estudied as models and to understand their subtleties. The current\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eimplementations also provide easy ways for S functions to call\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ecompiled code written in C, Fortran and similar languages; this is\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003edocumented here in depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIncreasingly S is being used for statistical or graphical analysis\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ewithin larger software systems or for whole vertical-market\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eapplications.
