Katy Macfarlane is a Senior Lecturer in Child and Family Law at the University of Edinburgh Law School where she teaches courses at all levels of study. From 2000 to 2007, she headed up the Scottish Child Law Centre. Katy is a qualified solicitor, safeguarder for the children's hearings system, child welfare reporter in family actions in Edinburgh Sheriff Court and qualified mediator. She co-authored the Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 Annotations (W Green, 2018) and is editor of Family Law Bulletin (W Green). Katy has served on the Board of Trustees of the Scottish Child Law Centre, and the Scottish Alliance for Children's Rights (Together). She is also a member of the Scottish Government cross party group on Children and Young People.
