Technology & Engineering / Fisheries & Aquaculture

As global demand for aquatic food resources continues to rise, the aquaculture and fisheries sectors are embracing advanced digital technologies to improve productivity, sustainability, and resource management. This book explores how the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and related smart technologies are transforming modern aquaculture and fisheries through intelligent monitoring, automation, and data-driven decision-making.

The volume presents a comprehensive overview of the latest technological advances shaping the field, from AI-assisted production systems and IoT-enabled water quality monitoring to automated fish feeding, intelligent disease diagnosis, and sustainable aquaculture practices. It also examines the role of information and communication technologies, geographic information systems, and remote sensing in fisheries management, demonstrating how these tools improve resource utilization, environmental monitoring, and operational efficiency. Together, the chapters highlight practical solutions for increasing productivity while promoting responsible stewardship of aquatic ecosystems.

Bringing together current research and real-world applications, this book provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing one of the world's fastest-growing food production sectors. It is an essential resource for researchers, industry professionals, policymakers, faculty, and students seeking to understand and implement smart technologies that will shape the future of sustainable aquaculture and fisheries.
