Akos Nemeth | Che Walker
Drama / European / General
A group of young people involved in sex, drugs and petty crime meet big-time Mafiosi against the backdrop of semi-underworld Budapest today. None of the characters seems to know what he or she is doing, yet still they try to cheat one another and their own fate. A dry, quirky, fast, rude and at times extremely funny snapshot of the urban scene in Hungary today.
This version is from a literal translation by Katalin Trencsényi and David Evans and was part of the National Theatre's Channels (Hungary) season of rehearsed readings, initiated by the NT Studio and performed in the Cottesloe Theatre in June 2004.
As well as being a playwright, Akos Nemeth is the artistic director of the German-Language Theatre in Szekszard, Hungary. His plays are performed in mainstream theatres and on radio and television in Hungary, as well as being staged in France.
