He is also Adjunct Professor at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, USA. In 2024, he was elected President of the International Association of Earthquake Engineering (IAEE). He serves as Associate Editor of the \u003cem\u003eJournal of Earthquake Engineering\u003c\/em\u003e and has received numerous international awards, including the 2006 fib Award for Outstanding Concrete Structure for his contribution to the design and construction of the Rion–Antirion Bridge, the 2020 Outstanding Paper Award from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), and the honour of delivering the 19th Mallet–Milne Lecture in the UK.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eGerard J. He has received several international recognitions, including the 2022 Shah Family Innovation Prize from the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) in the US and a Starting Grant awarded by the Fondo Italiano per la Scienza in Italy.
