Supercapacitors

Fast Electrochemical Storage and Conversion of Electric Energy

Yuping Wu | Rudolf Holze

Technology & Engineering / Materials Science / General

This book delivers a complete picture of this highly energy-relevant field, beginning with the fundamentals of electrified interfaces and delving into topics such as double-layer and redox supercapacitors. Supercapacitors are electrochemical devices able to store electric energy at extremely high currents. This book presents relevant aspects of the underlying materials science of electrodes, electrolytes and electrolyte solution, as well as applications on all scales. With a highlight on the importance of supercapacitors in the efficient use of electric energy, this book is ideal for students as well as practicing scientists and engineers seeking to advance this technology.

Dr. Yuping Wu is a distinguished professor of Nanjing Tech University since 2015. He has been among the highly cited researchers in the world, and was named in the World's Most Influential Minds (2015) list by Thomson Reuters. His main research work is on energy storage and conversion systems. He created the first company to mass produce the third generation of gel separators for lithium batteries.

Rudolf Holze is a professor of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany. His research is focused on spectroelectrochemistry, self-assembled monolayers, electrochemical energy conversion and storage, electrochemical materials science and corrosion. He is also a professor leading a research group on electrochemical energy storage materials and processes at St. Petersburg State University, Russia; he is a distinguished professor at Nanjing Tech University, China.
