This book provides readers with a comprehensive set of theoretical tools to better understand and optimize the operation of power converters. The author explores nonlinear system theories relevant to power electronics that are rarely treated in detail in existing literature, including optimal control, robust control, Lyapunov-based control, sliding mode control, chaos control, and stability analysis of power electronic systems, including thermal systems.
Bertrand Rivet obtained his engineering degree from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. In 1989, he joined STMicroelectronics in Tours after gaining two years of experience in smaller companies. For more than 30 years, he managed an applications engineering team responsible for contributing to the development of new power components.
Over the past 35 years, he has participated in numerous development programs and their implementation in industrial designs. He is the author and co-author of many publications and technical papers. He has also filed around 40 patents, some of which became commercial successes, such as the Tandem diode and a soft-start circuit used in vacuum cleaners.
