Eosinophilic Nasal Polyposis

A Multidisciplinary Approach from Embryology to Management

Goran Latif Omer | Stefano Di Girolamo

Medical / Otolaryngology

This book combines otorhinolaryngology, immunology, pathology, allergy, pulmonology, microbiology, and radiology to provide an in-depth exploration of eosinophilic nasal polyposis (ENP). It systematically addresses this condition from etiological mechanisms to advanced therapeutic interventions. Through detailed analyses of immunopathogenesis, histopathology, and the sinonasal microbiome, the book offers molecular-level insights into ENP. The inclusion of novel biologic therapies, new developments in surgical techniques, and applications of artificial intelligence makes this volume both clinically relevant and forward-looking.

This volume is designed as a key resource for researchers and clinicians to enhance diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic and surgical practices.

To facilitate the translation of theoretical knowledge into clinical application, the book includes clinical case discussions.

Another distinctive feature of the book is its focus on special populations. It addresses unique diagnostic and therapeutic considerations for children, the elderly, pregnant individuals, and immunocompromised patients. Furthermore, it explores racial and ethnic disparities in ENP, considering genetic predispositions, environmental factors, and inequities in access to treatment.

This volume serves as an essential reference for otolaryngologists, immunologists, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals seeking a deeper understanding of ENP.

He is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship in Rhinology and 360° Skull Base Surgery at Tor Vergata, supervised by Prof. Stefano Di Girolamo.

He has directed numerous research projects over the course of his career and has developed new techniques in functional endoscopic sinus surgery, 360° skull base surgery, middle ear surgery, and rhinoplasty. This is his second edited volume for Springer, following Maxillary Sinus: A Comprehensive Guide (2025), which he edited with Prof. Di Girolamo.

Prof. Stefano Di Girolamo is Full Professor of Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata and Head of the Otorhinolaryngology Unit at the Policlinico Universitario Tor Vergata. He graduated with top honors from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1991, completed his specialization in Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Siena in 1995, and obtained a diploma in Audiology from La Sapienza in 2001. He was appointed Associate Professor at Tor Vergata before his promotion to Full Professor. His clinical and academic work spans otorhinolaryngology and audiology, and he has been closely involved in postgraduate training and fellowship supervision throughout his career.
