This edited volume addresses in an extensive yet concise way the problem of reducing food waste and the role of packaging from a consumer perceptions perspective. It is based upon the insights generated by the Consumer Perceptions of the Role of Packaging in Reducing Food Waste project that is part of the End Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre (formerly Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre), which is a multi-million-dollar partnership between 10 research institutes, over 48 industry partners, and the Australian Government.
The book shares knowledge on innovative ways to improve the food industry’s productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability. The role of packaging in reducing food waste is examined across 10 chapters, focusing on reducing food loss and waste, authored by a variety of scholars and practitioners working in this space. The unique approach to the topic is guided by scholarly literature, empirically based evidence from consumer and behavioral research, industry and governmental insights.
