He did his Ph.D. in environmental governance in Bangladesh, outlining the practices, policies, and challenges from the Institute of Bangladesh Studies of the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He attended his Ph.D. Internship Program under the Student for Development Program of the Centre for Asia Pacific Initiatives (CAPI) at the University of Victoria (UVic), Canada. Haque is a visiting scholar at UVic, Canada. During his decade long teaching career, he has mostly taught courses on environmental governance and sustainable development, human rights and the civil society of Bangladesh, and local governance: policies and practices.
