Allister Vale is the former Director of the National Poisons Information Service (Birmingham Unit) and the West Midlands Poisons Unit, City Hospital, Birmingham, UK. He holds an honorary chair in the University of Birmingham. He is a Past-President of the British Toxicology Society, a Past-President of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists, a Past-President of and the Clinical and Translational Toxicology Specialty Section of the Society of Toxicology, a former Trustee of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and former Censor of the Royal College of Physicians. He is currently the President of the Fellowship of Postgraduate Medicine and was co-Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Toxicology until December 2025. He has published extensively on acute poisoning, including pesticide poisoning.
Sally Bradberry is Director of the National Poisons Information Service (Birmingham Unit) and the West Midlands Poisons Unit, City Hospital, Birmingham, UK. She holds honorary chairs in the School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham, and the School of Pharmacy, University of East Anglia, and is a Visiting Professor at the University of South Wales, UK. She is a Fellow of the European Association of Poisons Centres and Clinical Toxicologists and of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicologists and is past President of the Clinical and Translational Section of the Society of Toxicology. She has over thirty years’ experience treating poisoned patients, has published widely in the field of clinical toxicology. She was a member of the Health and Safety Executive's Pesticide Incident Appraisal Panel (PIAP) for many years.
Alex Proudfoot was formerly the Director of the Scottish Poisons Information Bureau and the Regional Poisoning Treatment Centre, Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. He introduced TOXBASE, the UK database of information on poisoning. He is a former Vice-President of the European Association of Poison Centres and Clinical Toxicologists and was a member of the Advisory Committee on Pesticides and Chairman of its Scientific Subcommittee and its Medical and Toxicology Panel. He, too, has published extensively on acute poisoning, including pesticide poisoning, and is the author of Acute Poisoning (2 ed), co-author of Poisoning and Laboratory Medicine, and editor of Pesticide Poisoning: Notes for the Guidance of Medical Practitioners (2 ed).

Timothy Marrs OBE† was formerly the Head of Clinical Toxicology and Pathology at Porton Down, Senior Medical Officer in charge of pesticides and veterinary drugs at the Department of Health, London and Chief Toxicologist at the UK Food Standards Agency. He is the co-editor of Pesticide Toxicology and International Regulation and Mammalian Toxicology of Insecticides, and co-edited Regulatory Toxicology in the European Union and Neurotransmitters and Toxicology with Kevin Woodward.
Kevin Woodward is a consultant in toxicology specialising in veterinary drugs. He was formerly Global Head of Pharmacovigilance with MSD Animal Health, Director of Regulatory Affairs with Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health and Director of Licensing with the UK’s Veterinary Medicines Directorate. He is the author of Toxicological Effects of Veterinary Medicinal Products in Humans and co-edited Regulatory Toxicology in the European Union and Neurotransmitters and Toxicology with Tim Marrs.
