He is a licensed surgeon also in UAE and Switzerland. He is the recipient of 11 scientific awards. He servers as President of the World Union of International Phlebolymphology and he is the Emeritus President of the venous-lymphatic World International Network Foundation. He is honorary member of 7 international scientific societies. He is the leading author of the the Italian Vein-Lymphatic Good Clinical Practice Recommendations clinical governance 2025 document. He serves as associate-Editor of International Angiology Journal, of the Journal of Indonesian Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and of the Egyptian Vein Lymphatic Journal. He was coeditor of the Springer book Saphenous Vein-Sparing Strategies in Chronic Venous Disease,  author of chapters in 21 textbooks dedicated to vein-lymphatic topics. He is one of the authors of the 2023 Global Consensus Document on Sclerotherapy  and of the 2024 Guidelines for Management of Actual or Suspected Inadvertent intra-arterial Injection of Sclerosants. Prof. Gianesini is author of 102 scientific papers published in high-impact journals, and has been speaker at 702 international congresses, in 11 of them even as keynote speaker.
