In 2023, he received the LSI Inspire Award for curriculum development from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and in 2025 he received the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine Young Educator Award. He completed a residency in emergency medicine at The Ohio State University (1993-1996). In 2000, he joined the department at Ohio State as a full-time faculty member. He is board certified in emergency medicine and hyperbaric medicine. He was honored as \"Teacher of the Year\" for the Department of Emergency Medicine (2008) and have received both The Ohio State University College of Medicine Excellence in Teaching Award (2004) and Outstanding Teaching Award (2008).
