Dr. S Bertrand Litwin was born in Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and then the Harvard Medical School. His surgical training included general and cardiac at the Massachusetts General Hospital, thoracic at the Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, England, and congenital heart surgery at the Boston Children’s Hospital where he remained on staff for 5 years. He was recruited to Milwaukee to start a new heart surgery program at the Childrens Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Litwin has two daughters. He  and his wife live in Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Michael E. Mitchell was born in Boston. He attended Princeton University and then the Harvard Medical School. His surgical training included general and cardiac surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and at the Boston Children’s Hospital, and congenital heart surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He was recruited to Milwaukee in 2006 to join Dr. Litwin and Dr. James Tweddell as a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Mitchell has a son and two daughters. He and his wife live in Hartland, Wisconsin.
