This book provides a comprehensive overview of green materials science and engineering, covering sustainable approaches for energy production and storage, including fundamental concepts and eco‑friendly dye-sensitized solar cells with emphasis on transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) and their polymeric composites. It examines green synthesis routes for photocatalytic materials and their environmental applications, along with advances in corrosion protection of metals and alloys using sustainable materials. The content further explores graphene quantum dots (GQDs) in sustainable engineering, environmentally responsible processing of phosphogypsum, and innovative materials for water purification and remediation such as engineered biohydrogels, and biopolymer-based systems incorporating water hyacinth. Additional topics include green materials for wound healing.
Shadia J. Ikhmayies holds B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Jordan, where her doctoral research focused on CdS/CdTe thin-film photovoltaic solar cells. She has served as an academic staff member at several universities in Jordan, with research centered on semiconductor thin films, CdS/CdTe solar cells, and computational materials characterization. She has contributed extensively to scientific publishing as an editor, guest editor, editorial board member, and reviewer for several international journals, including JOM and the Journal of Electronic Materials, and has received international recognition for her contributions to materials science and renewable energy.
