He has been Professor of Geology at the National University of Tierra del Fuego (Universidad Nacional de Tierra del Fuego) at Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, and has taught at several Argentine universities including La Plata, Comahue, and Patagonia-San Juan Bosco.  He is a member of both the Argentine National Academy of Sciences and the Catalonian Academy of Sciences (IEC).  He is also a member of the Academy of Sciences of Latin America (ACAL), and an associate senior researcher with Fundación Bariloche, San Carlos de Bariloche, in Argentina. As a visiting scholar, Jorge Rabassa has lectured in the U.S.A., Spain, South Africa, and Brazil. He was a postdoctoral Fulbright fellow, has published journal articles and book chapters, and was the founder and lead editor of the \u003cem\u003ejournal Quaternary of South America \u0026amp; Antarctic Peninsula\u003c\/em\u003e (A.A. Balkema Publishers, The Netherlands).  He also served as President of the Argentine Association of Geomorphology and Quaternary Studies.  Currently, Jorge Rabassa is the Springer Nature Regional Editor for Latin America, on the \u003cem\u003eEarth System Sciences\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eLatin American Studies\u003c\/em\u003e book series.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eMary R. Tahan is a writer, producer, and documentarian, with a professional background in journalism and marketing.  She has authored historical books and journal articles and produced and directed documentary films.  Her books, articles, lectures, and presentations focus on Antarctica and the Arctic.  As part of her research on Polar exploration, Mary R. Tahan was awarded an art residency to live and work on the Antarctic continent, and traveled to Antarctica by invitation of the Dirección Nacional del Antártico (Instituto Antártico Argentino), where she performed on-site photography and videography of the Antarctic landscape, wildlife, animals, and historical sites, as well as conducted interviews with scientists and curators.  Her research has also taken her to Argentina, Norway, France, Russia, the U.S.A., Australia, Canada, and England, where she has visited significant sites and interviewed descendants of early explorers of the Arctic and Antarctic.She has presented her work at The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the Encuentro de Historiadores Antárticos Latinoamericanos (Meeting of Latin American Antarctic Historians) conferences, as well as at the Centro Austral de Investigaciones Científicas del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CADIC-CONICET).  She was a featured speaker at the \u003cem\u003eVisions on Antarctica\u003c\/em\u003e Fundación PROAntártida International Symposium, is a member of the SCAR Standing Committee on the Humanities and Social Sciences (SC-HASS), and was nominated as Honorary Historian for the Argentine Navy. Mary R.
