This open access book examines the political economy of data governance and digitalization in Africa. Written through the lenses of public policy and political economy, chapters address critical topics such as the regulation of data in cross-border trade, artificial intelligence, the state of interoperability, digital trade in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, as well as data governance issues in specific contexts and industries, such as education and sustainable finance. It also proposes key steps to achieve harmonized data governance across the continent. It will appeal to all those interested in data governance, digitalization, and public policy.
