It examines how such landscapes make visible what is often overlooked: variability, multiplicity, and the interplay of different scales, temporalities, and disciplines.

Approached as transversal mediators, it reveals complexity through accessible forms, shifting emphasis away from a purely visual definition toward experience, collective processes, and the intersection of diverse forms of knowledge. The provisional nature of uncertain landscaepes raises the question of whether they will persist or be supplanted by more instrumental frameworks.

The book positions landscape as a conceptual tool for rethinking human relationships with inhabited environments. It seeks to disrupt disciplinary boundaries in order to address contemporary challenges, and proposes landscape as a means of engaging past knowledge while supporting the construction of diverse and environmentally conscious futures.

Rebeca Blanco-Rotea (Vigo, 1973) is an archaeologist specialising in landscape and architecture.
