While these technologies offer unprecedented opportunities for innovation and growth, they also introduce new forms of complexity, risk, and ethical concerns. This volume responds to this challenge by examining how digital ecosystems can be strategically governed to foster sustainable, responsible, and inclusive transformation. A central theme of the volume concerns sustainability and social impact: several studies examine how emerging technologies support the environmental assessment, governance approaches, sustainable (human) resource management, and employee resilience.

Collectively, these contributions highlight their relevance for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, offering a multidisciplinary contribution to the study of digital ecosystems through literature reviews, conceptual frameworks, empirical studies and computational approaches. Bringing together a curated selection of peer-reviewed research contributions presented at the annual conference of the Italian Chapter of AIS at the LIUC-Università Cattaneo, on October 17th -18th, 2025, Castellanza, Italy, this volume is useful for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to harness technological innovation and shape its societal impact through informed and strategic governance.

Stefano Di Lauro is an Associate Professor of Organization Studies at the Universitas Mercatorum, Italy.
