This book collects timely critical analyses of media representations of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by academics and scholars in the Humanities and Social Sciences from around the world, focusing particularly on how journalism reproduces the most recent developments of the conflict. In other words, the book collates new and up-to-date knowledge about Israel/Palestine news coverage from a broad range of interdisciplinary perspectives and discourse analytical approaches, incorporating media from diverse countries. Contributors engage in critiques and reflexive approaches to the analyses of viewpoints expressed in the discursive constructions and their consequences, and demonstrate interdisciplinary approaches to discourse analysis across disciplines in the study of conflict data. The goal is to identify emerging trends and overarching dynamics in journalism and media coverage of the conflict, laying the groundwork for potential change.

Innocent Chiluwa is Professor in Applied Linguistics, Media and Communication tudies and currently a visiting professor at the Department of Languages & Intercultural Studies, Heriot-Watt University, UK. His recent books include Discourse, Media & Conflict: Examining War and Resolution in the News (2022), and Discourse and Conflict: Analysing Text and Talk of Conflict, Hate and Peacebuilding (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).

Giuliana Tiripelli is Senior Lecturer in Digital Journalism and Media Discourse at the Leicester Media School & Media Discourse Centre, De Montfort University, UK. Her research examines the role of the media in social change processes and aims to contribute to the analysis and reform of media's role in shaping discourses and practices during periods of social transformation and instability. Her previous publications have examined the roles of peace journalism in Israel and Palestine and the language of peace in conflict transformation.
