The opening chapter introduces the Integrative Maghza–Maqāṣid Method as a Qurʾānic framework for interpreting behaviour through an Islamic psychospiritual lens, uniting maghza (inner meaning), maqāṣid (higher objectives), and Qurʾānic coherence into a comprehensive interpretive system.

Chapters 2 and 3 examine the ontology of human behaviour, tracing the journey from divine origin to accountability, presenting a recursive model where spiritual, psychological, and social dimensions interconnect. Chapter 4 explores health and wholeness as a psychospiritual state rooted in tawḥīd, outlining a tripartite ontology of body (jasad), mind (ʿaql), and soul (rūḥ/nafs), with authentic well being (ʿāfiyah) arising from their harmony in service to Allāh. Chapter 7 presents a holistic exploration of human nature, grounded in fiṭrah. Chapter 8 examines inner states (ahwāl) and outward conduct (sulūk) through the Qurʾān. Chapter 9 highlights the heart (qālb) as the locus of emotions, desires, and moral conduct. Chapter 10 explores trauma and trials, emphasising tawakkul (trust in God) and ukhūwah (community support) as resources for recovery.

Chapter 11 addresses the crisis of meaning in modern life, while Chapter 12 examines addiction through Qurʾānic prohibitions and self control (taqwā). Chapter 13 explores sin and guilt through the lens of cognitive dissonance, and Chapter 14 develops a psycho spiritual framework for sexuality as an aspect of fiṭrah requiring guidance. The final chapter synthesises these insights, presenting the Qurʾān’s integrative, purposeful, and psychospiritual vision of the human being. Altogether, the book offers a narrative of holistic well being, applying Qurʾānic teachings in therapeutic contexts to foster healing and flourishing, bridging timeless wisdom with modern psychology.

Professor Dr. G.
