This volume gathers peer-reviewed advances presented at ISCS 2026 in La Rochelle, France, offering a curated snapshot of where research on interconnected systems is heading. It brings together original contributions that link theory, methods, and real-world applications across network science, artificial intelligence, computational social science, biological modeling, and sustainability.
Readers will find new analytical tools, data-driven models, and case studies that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries, each selected through a rigorous review process for its originality and relevance. The collection is a single, up-to-date reference for researchers, graduate students, and practitioners tracking emerging directions in the field, and a springboard for new collaborations and research agendas. Its interdisciplinary scope makes it a valuable resource for anyone applying complexity approaches to natural, social, and technological challenges.
Hocine Cherifi — Hocine Cherifi is a Professor of Computer Science at Université Bourgogne Europe, Dijon, France. His research focuses on complex networks and network science, with contributions to community structure, network robustness, and their applications. He founded the International Conference on Complex Networks and Their Applications and is Editor-in-Chief of Applied Network Science.
Jean-Loup Guillaume — Jean-Loup Guillaume is a Professor of Computer Science at La Rochelle Université, France, in the L3i laboratory. His work spans complex networks, community detection, and the analysis of large-scale graphs; he is a co-author of the widely used Louvain method for community detection.
Guy Melançon — Guy Melançon is a Professor of Computer Science at Université de Bordeaux, France, in the LaBRI laboratory. His research addresses graph visualization, information visualization, and visual analytics of large relational data. He has been a driving force behind Tulip, an open-source framework for the visualization and analysis of large graphs, widely used in the information visualization community.
