Chemometrics and Nanomaterials
Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications
Barış Şimşek
Chemometrics and Nanomaterials explains chemometric techniques to be used in the synthesis, characterization, and optimization of nanomaterials with computer applications. New methods for synthesizing nanomaterials/composites are being discovered every day, as new tools for their characterization are being developed and new applications are emerging as their properties become known. The uniformity and homogeneity of nanomaterials are essential for the standardization of these products and many factors affect the product properties, such as the amount of input used, operating conditions, and analytical techniques. Chemometric methods such as the design of experiments and multivariate statistical analysis will play a key role in the standardized production of these products. The target audience is graduate and post-graduate students, research laboratory staff, nanomaterials manufacturers, and R&D engineers.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Barış Şimşek obtained his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Ankara University in Turkey. He was awarded a scholarship from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and subsequently spent a year at RWTH Aachen University ELD (Germany) pursuing post-doctoral studies. He has worked as a researcher, engineer, and teacher for more than 20 years. In 2014, he started working as a professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Çankırı in Turkey. He managed one international project (COST action) and over ten national projects. He has published over 50 articles in SCI-indexed Q1 and Q2 journals, which focused on industrial statistics, optimization, polymer composites, and smart nanocomposites.
