This book constitutes the necessary addition to the library of any researcher, academic, or industrial participant in the areas of materials sciences, condensed matter physics, and/or spintronics. The book traverses the more general phenomenon of magnetic metamorphism, whereby magnetic behavior undergoes drastic transformation due to the application of external (environment, fields, etc.) or internal (doping, defect engineering, nano-structuring, thermal treatments, etc.) modification. This modification could redefine the intrinsic properties of DMS materials or tailor DMS materials to enhance utility in the domains of spintronic devices, sensors, optoelectronics, and quantum technologies. Focusing on oxide-based DMS systems, including ZnO, SnO2, and TiO2, the book covers the atomic basis for magnetism, including carrier-mediated exchange interactions, bound magnetic polaron development, and defect-mediated magnetism mechanisms. Additionally, the links between transition metal dopants, oxygen vacancy engineering, and co-doping processes as routes for achieving room temperature ferromagnetism are presented as no less than necessary steps toward integration in the real-world device application. Based on experimental data, theoretical models, experimental models, and schematic illustrations, progress and ideas are presented in a straightforward and thoughtful format.

Dr. Nupur Aggarwal is Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Chandigarh University, India. Her research interests span the synthesis and characterization of metal oxide nanoparticles for applications in optoelectronics and spintronics. She has been working on ZnO and SnO2-based dilute magnetic semiconductors for over past 11 years. Her expertise includes the efficient use of ZnO nanostructures in spintronic devices, dielectric studies for electrostatic energy storage, and green synthesis of nanoparticles such as Ag, ZnO, SnO2, and TiO2 for environmental remediation and cytotoxicity applications. Dr. Aggarwal has published more than 50 research papers in SCI and SCOPUS-indexed journals and has presented at several international conferences. She is also Editorial Board Member of Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Nanotechnology, and American Journal of Nano Research and Applications (NANO). She is also Editor of 4 books (2: CRC Press, 2: Springer Nature) and has published 6 Indian patents.

Dr. Naveen Kumar is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Galgotias University, India. Over the past 12 years, he has explored structural, optical, dielectric, magnetic, and electrical properties of multiferroic and magnetoelectric materials such as BiFeO3-PbTiO3, BiFeO3-BaTiO3, and BiFeO3-PZT. He explored the physico-chemical properties of metal oxide nanostructures, such as pristine and modified ZnO, TiO2, and SnO2 nanostructures. Additionally, he investigated the cytotoxicity activity of a few magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) such as Fe3O4, Fe2O3, and Mg0.05Zn0.05Fe2O4 NPs. He has published more than 100 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and several research papers in international conferences. He is Editor of 5 books (Ongoing) [2: CRC Press, 3: Springer Nature].
