After obtaining Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh,  he entered the Higher Surgical Training programme on the prestigious South London circuit and trained as a Senior Registrar at King’s College Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and Brighton\/Sussex University Hospitals. he  then completed fellowships   in Tokyo, Munich, Oxford. His experience includes the role of President of the EANS - European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (2021-2023) and Vice-President of the Global Neuro Foundation (2023-present), where he was involved in curriculum development and delivery of multi-level training courses on traumatic brain injury. He was also national clinical lead and chair of the Scottish Acquired Brain Injury Network (SABIN) (2018-2023,  an interdisciplinary group dealing with patients with acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury. He currently is the president of the History of Medicine Society @ the Royal Society of Medicine. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDr. Rhodes-Reader was educated in Manchester and then the University of Edinburgh. He trained in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and during his training he developed an interest in the pathophysiology of acute brain inflammation following trauma.
