The aim of this book is to provide a seminal and updated review of established as well as potential diagnostic and prognostic markers of primary ataxias. Critical progress has been made over the last two decades delineating clinical, functional, neuroimaging and biochemical markers in commonest autosomal dominant and recessive ataxias. The direct implication of such a rich body of literature is that it ensures that the book provides rigorous outcome parameters for novel therapies that are already on the horizon or have started recently. The first two sections of the edited volume provide “one-stop reading” material outlining the state-of-art literature on diagnostic and therapeutic markers.  The second goal of this book is to provide a detailed summary of markers that separate primary ataxias from secondary ataxias as well as other disorders that overlap with degenerative ataxias leading to complex clinical presentations. The authors of dedicated chapters provide novel algorithms recognizing these disease classes. The book will appeal to trainees in medicine, neurologists, neuroscientists, biologists, biochemists and those performing clinical trials.
