Dr. Nabanita Bhattacharyya has more than 20 years of teaching (both UG and PG levels) and research experiences and is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Botany, Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, India. She has done her Ph.D. on growth of one medicinally important medicinal herb Houttuynia cordata Thunb. collected from different localities in Assam and its phytoremediation potential in soil polluted with heavy metals. Dr. Bhattacharyya did postdoctoral research on "Molecular mechanism of protein kinase signalling" in University of Leicester, UK with the Post Doctoral Fellowship awarded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Her research interests include, Valorization of medicinal and aromatic plants of NE India; Post-harvest physiology and process optimization of leafy vegetables; Climate-resilient agriculture and food security; Wasteland Ecology, Restoration, and Sustainable Utilization; Bioprospecting and economic valorisation of wasteland flora; Plant stress physiology and molecular signaling; and Functional plant biochemistry and metabolic regulation.She has published 26 numbers of Research and Review articles in peer reviewed journals of international repute and 18 book chapters in edited books of several reputed international publishers. She has presented her research work in several national and international seminars and conferences both within the country and abroad. Dr. Bhattacharyya has been awarded the “Fellow of Linnean Society of London (FLS)” by the Linnean Society of London in 2026. She has also been awareded the "Dr. Tarun Chandra Sarma Research Award 2026" by the "Botanical Society of Assam (BSA) in 2026, as well as the "Outstanding Woman Researcher in Plant Physiology" by the Centre for Women Development of Venus International Foundation Chennai, India, in 2024. She was also awarded the "Honorary Visiting Fellow", by the Department of Infection Immunity and Inflammation, University of Leicester, UK, in 2015. Dr. Bhattacharyya is a life member of distinguished societies like Society for Plant Research (UP, India), Indian Society for Plant Physiology (ISPP), Botanical Society of Assam (BSA) etc.


Dr. Swarnendu Roy is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of North Bengal in Siliguri, India. He has more than 16 years of teaching experience (both UG and PG levels). His doctoral thesis involved understanding the mechanism of salinity stress tolerance in grasses. He has published more than 60 articles in reputable journals, including high-impact journals such as Water Research, Scientific Reports, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, and Carbohydrate Polymers. He has published 10 edited books with Springer and CRC Press and also published several book chapters in edited volumes. Under his supervision, 4 students have been awarded Ph.D. degrees, and he is presently supervising 4 Ph.D. research scholars who are working on stress management in plants using engineered nanoparticles, the synthesis of starch-based biofilms, and edible coatings. He received International Travel Support (ITS) from DST, Govt. of India, to present his research paper at the International Conference on Integrative Plant Physiology at Sitges, Spain. He has also received the ’Young Scientist Award (Plant Sciences)’ in 2023 from the Society of Plant Research & Vegetos, India. He is a Life member of renowned Societies such as the Indian Science Congress, the Association of Food Scientists & Technologists (India), and the Society of Plant Research (India).
