Quality Engineering

A Practical Starter Guide

Tushar S. Bendigeri

Technology & Engineering / Industrial Engineering

Quality engineering is central to safe products, stable processes, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and profitable manufacturing. Quality Engineering: A Practical Starter Guide introduces the quality engineering role to those starting engineering jobs. It focuses on the essential principles, tools, and responsibilities of quality engineering across manufacturing, automotive, and medical-device industries.

The book progresses from the fundamentals of quality engineering to the core tool set and then to industry-specific application. It presents and explains different methods, when each method is needed, what evidence it produces, related common mistakes, and relevant case studies. Checklists, templates, formulas, checkpoint questions, interview explanations, and a first-90-days career plan make the book suitable for self-study, university courses, onboarding, and other training programs.

Tushar S. Bendigeri is a senior design quality engineer with experience across regulated medical devices, automotive manufacturing, metal forming, casting, precision machining, supplier quality, and high-volume production. His work has included design and process risk management, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), engineering change control, complaint and reliability analysis, process validation, and manufacturing quality improvement.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in manufacturing and technology management and is an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer. His professional interests include practical risk-based quality frameworks, error-proofing, closed-loop reliability, and helping early-career engineers translate quality theory into sound industrial decisions.
