This monograph presents a comprehensive study of petroleum-derived naphthenic acids, including their extraction, purification, physicochemical characterization, spectroscopic identification, and industrial as well as medicinal applications.
The book focuses on crude oils and petroleum fractions from Uzbekistan and Central Asia, with special attention given to the isolation and adsorption purification of naphthenic acids from local refinery streams. Modern analytical methods, such as IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, are employed to investigate the structural and compositional features of petroleum acids.
In addition, the monograph explores the use of petroleum acid derivatives in industrial chemistry, pigments, additives, and selected traditional medicinal applications. Particular attention is devoted to environmentally relevant utilization pathways and the valorization of refinery by-products.
The book combines petroleum chemistry, analytical chemistry, process engineering, and applied biomedical perspectives, making it a unique interdisciplinary contribution to the field of petroleum-derived functional compounds.
