Hybrid Power Systems with Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles, Volume 1

Surender Reddy Salkuti

Technology & Engineering / Power Resources / Alternative & Renewable

This book provides a comprehensive, researchdriven overview of hybrid power systems that integrate renewable energy sources (RESs), energy storage systems (ESSs), and electric vehicles (EVs) into modern smart grids. It brings together cuttingedge advancements in energy technology, intelligent control, electric transportation, and grid modernization to address the operational, economic, and sustainability challenges facing today’s power sector. As nations accelerate decarbonization efforts, this book highlights practical strategies and emerging frameworks needed to support largescale deployment of renewable energy and EV infrastructure.

This book examines how highpenetration wind and solar systems interact with ESSs and EVs in both centralized and decentralized grid architectures. It explains the critical role of advanced power electronics, gridinteractive converters, and multilevel topologies in ensuring strong grid support, improved efficiency, and seamless integration. Readers gain insights into smart charging, vehicletogrid (V2G) technologies, battery lifecycle management, optimal siting of EV charging stations, and the use of stochastic and optimization methods to manage intermittency and load uncertainty.

In addition, this book presents modern control, protection, and operational strategies for hybrid systems, covering energy management systems (EMS), distributed generation planning, voltage regulation, demand response, and grid stability under rapidly changing conditions. It emphasizes the transformative role of artificial intelligence, machine learning, Blockchain, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in advancing predictive maintenance, cybersecure grid operation, autonomous decisionmaking, and future electric mobility markets.
