This edited volume examines the so-called “limit-problems” of Husserlian phenomenology, including unconscious life, metaphysics (e.g., God and rational faith), ethics, and affectivity. Husserl is rarely regarded as a thinker who devoted systematic attention to these topics. However, manuscripts published over the last decade reveal that Husserl engaged with these phenomena as systematically as, for instance, Scheler and Heidegger did. The contributions gathered here address dimensions of Husserl's work that have not yet received the sustained scholarly attention they deserve. The book is intended for specialized Husserl scholars, the broader phenomenological and hermeneutic community, and students and researchers working on metaphysical and existential themes more generally. It highlights the importance Husserl himself attached to metaphysical questions, offering fresh perspectives on his metaphysics and late ethics.

Angela Ales Bello is Professor Emerita of the History of Contemporary Philosophy at the Pontifical Lateran University (Rome), where she also served as Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. She is President of the Italian Centre for Phenomenological Research (Rome), affiliated with the World Phenomenological Institute (USA), and President of the International Society for the Phenomenology of Religion. She formerly directed the International Research Area on “Edith Stein and Contemporary Philosophy” at the Pontifical Lateran University. She is visiting professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the State University of Sao Paulo, at the Catholic University of Campinas (Brazil), and at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical University of Antonianum in Rome.
 
Emilio Vicuña is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from The New School (USA). He specializes in the phenomenological tradition, in particular in the philosophy of Edmund Husserl. His current research includes reelaborations of Husserl’s conception of horizon-intentionality, a phenomenological ontology of the artwork, and a phenomenology of ludic experience. He has received fellowships from the DAAD, ANID (Chilean Government), The New School for Social Research, and the Onassis Foundation.
 
Roberto Rubio holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Freiburg (Germany) and is Full Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Alberto Hurtado University (Chile). His research focuses on phenomenology, hermeneutics, and philosophy of media. He is a founding member of Imagenlat, the Latin American Network for Image Studies, and directs the Center for Media Studies at Alberto Hurtado University. His current research examines the relationship between perceptual faith and religious faith from a phenomenological perspective. His work has been supported by competitive grants from the Stipendienwerk Lateinamerika–Deutschland, the John Templeton Foundation, and Fondecyt Chile.
