This edited volume focuses on the Islamic intellectual tradition, particularly its philosophical, theological, and mystical dimensions, and considers their relevance in the modern world. At its core, the volume engages with ideas in the fields of Islamic philosophy and Sufism with a particular focus on the work of William C. Chittick as well as that of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, one of the leading intellectuals of the Traditional/Traditionalist School (perennialism). The volume's key theme is the work of William C. Chittick, examined from various perspectives across several chapters. An introduction to his thought demonstrates how he translates the Sufi tradition, particularly the teachings of Ibn ʿArabī and Rūmī, into a modern context without compromising the authenticity of the Islamic intellectual tradition. The second part of the volume includes chapters on the thought of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, such as his understanding of nature and religious pluralism. The volume also includes chapters on Abū al-Muʿīn an-Nasafī and Christian religious pluralism. It is intended for an academic audience interested in Islamic philosophy, theology, Sufism, intercultural dialogue, and the challenges of modernity. At the same time, it offers interested readers access to the intellectual and spiritual dimensions of Islam.

Rusmir Šadić is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Sociology at the University of Tuzla and a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Sarajevo. His primary research interests focus on the philosophy of religion and ontology. Šadić serves as editor-in-chief of the journals Logos and Znakovi vremena (The Signs of Time).

Bego Hasanović is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies at the University of Vienna, Austria. He teaches Arabic language and Arabic theological texts. He studied Islamic Theology and Islamic Religious Education at the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His research interests include classical Māturīdī kalām, contemporary Islamic theology, and Muslims in Europe.
