This book presents selected peer-reviewed proceedings from the 2nd Annual International Conference on Advanced Materials, Sustainable Energy, and Engineering (ICAMSEE2026), held at Hotel Michelifen, Morocco, from May 19 to 21, 2026. This book serves as an exceptional platform for international and national scientists, professors, students, and industry professionals to convene and exchange knowledge in the fields of materials science, microscopy, engineering, technology, and energy. This book features contributions from researchers and experts, including keynote speakers, special sessions, posters, and tutorials, showcasing the latest advancements and developments in these areas of research. Organizers: Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), Moulay Ismail University—Meknes Laboratory of Advanced Materials Studies and Applications (LEM2A) Matériaux Avancée pour la Transition Energétique (MATE) Master Didactique des Sciences des Matériaux (MDSM) Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) PRIVATE UNIVERSITY OF FÈS (UPF) University of Mons, Belgium—Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning (FAU) The Academy of Research and Higher Education , Belgium (ARES) BIM pour un Bâtiment Durable et Participatif (Projet BIM4Citizens) Society of Advanced Physics of Nanomaterials for Energy and Technology (SPANET).
Dr. El Mehdi El Khattabi is a faculty member and an internationally recognized expert in energy efficiency, advanced materials, and sustainable engineering. As an authorized associate professor at the École Normale Supérieure of Meknès, he develops innovative, high-impact solutions in the fields of energy, water, and sustainable building. Holder of a Ph.D. in building energy efficiency, he has an international career shaped by collaborations and training in Europe (France, Germany, Lithuania), strengthening his expertise in thermal simulation, smart materials, and advanced energy systems. He is the author of more than 30 scientific publications in indexed international journals ranked Q1, as well as several scientific books published with Springer. An inventor of more than six patents, his innovations cover strategic areas such as thermochromic materials, passive cooling (KHABYA), thermal energy storage, and hybrid systems for solar desalination. He has led more than five innovative, high-impact projects.
Dr. Mourad Boutahir is an associate professor at Moulay Ismail University in Morocco. His research interests include development of molecular dynamics and ab initio computational methods. He received his Ph.D. in 2017 in advanced materials and applications laboratory (LEM2A), faculty of Sciences, Morocco. After, he was doing a postdoctoral supervised by Dr. José Mejia Lopez at the center of nanotechnology and advanced materials investigation (CIEN-UC), Chile, the project was about Materials Design for highly efficient and reliable Hydrogen and Energy Storage devices. Now, he is a coordinator of Master degree in materials sciences and head of research team “Advanced Materials for Energy Transition (MATE).” His career goal is to be a leading scientist in either an academic research laboratory, a comparable industry based or a non-profit research institution in the field of solar cells.
