CBT: Science Into Practice
Facilitating Engagement with Homework in CBT with Complex Cases
Truls Ryum
How can clinicians make homework an integral part of CBT when clinical complexity creates barriers to engagement? This volume offers an evidence-based, practical framework for designing and using between-session homework with complex cases.
Edited by Truls Ryum, the book moves beyond adherence and non-adherence to a collaborative, process-based understanding of engagement. Drawing on research and treatment literature, contributors examine how homework can activate and strengthen therapeutic mechanisms across contexts and throughout therapy. Clinical examples, case vignettes, common pitfalls, and practical solutions illustrate how to tailor meaningful homework to individual formulations and goals.
For developing and experienced clinicians, this volume connects the science of homework with its skilful application in everyday CBT practice.
