Global Citizenship in Higher Education
Challenges, Opportunities and Hope
Myriam Radhouane
This open access volume examines the evolving responsibilities of higher education in an era of globalization and the pedagogical transformations these demands require. Focusing on global citizenship education, it argues that embedding global perspectives within higher education can help address the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world, reduce persistent inequalities, and equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to engage responsibly with global issues. Through a diverse range of contributions, the book investigates innovative teaching practices, institutional commitments, curriculum development, and the broader social responsibilities of higher education.
Designed for education professionals, including researchers, policymakers, teacher educators, and practitioners at all stages of their careers, this volume offers valuable insights into the role of global citizenship education in shaping the future of higher education. Combining theoretical perspectives with practical approaches, it invites readers to rethink how universities can foster intercultural understanding, social responsibility, and active global engagement in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
