Amid ongoing economic transformation, geopolitical challenges, and growing concerns over energy security, Ukraine’s petroleum refining, gas processing, and petrochemical sectors require profound technological modernization. This volume highlights the key role of scientific research and technological innovation in improving petroleum and natural gas processing, promoting the efficient use of hydrocarbon resources, advancing technologies for the production and application of biofuels and binding materials, increasing product added value, and strengthening the sustainability, efficiency, and competitiveness of the industry.

Particular attention is devoted to innovative solutions aligned with the principles of the circular economy, including efficient resource utilization, waste minimization and recycling, recovery and reuse of valuable components, the use of renewable feedstocks for the production of fuel components and biofuels, as well as the development and modification of modern bituminous and other binding materials. Another important focus is the reduction of environmental impacts and the improvement of resource efficiency in technological processes. These approaches contribute to the development of more resilient, low-carbon, resource-efficient, and environmentally responsible petroleum refining, petrochemical, fuel, and road construction industries.

The volume comprises 23 chapters prepared by leading researchers and industry experts. Presented in the authors’ own editions, the chapters address current scientific, technological, and environmental challenges. The book is intended to support the development of sustainable, innovative, and technologically advanced approaches in petroleum and gas processing, petrochemistry, biofuel production, binding materials, and related fields in Ukraine and within the global energy system.
