Journeys Towards Recovery and Justice
Andrea Hollomotz | Leah Burch
This book focuses upon disability and sexual violence to provide an intersectional analysis of the complex journeys towards survival and justice for disabled victim-survivors. The book contributes to the development of justice frameworks by engaging with affect theory and an ethics of care approach. Drawing on original empirical evidence, it draws attention to the barriers for all victim-survivors, including those who do not self-identify as disabled and consides how patriarchy, sexism and sexist oppression affect all victim-survivors. It includes interviews to explore peer support and to demonstrate how the personal can become political when disabled victim-survivors begin to view their personal struggles as part of a collective of experiences. It presents a holistic picture of the victim-survivor journey and puts forward a plan for improving accessibility for disabled victim-survivors.
