Science / Physics / Condensed Matter

This book covers the rapidly growing area of advanced materials for hybrid supercapacitors, which has attracted the attention of researchers all over the world. Beginning with a brief introduction to the physical and technical fundamentals of hybrid supercapacitors and their charge storage mechanisms, the subsequent chapters — authored by active researchers in the field — focus, in particular the synthesis, characterization, and performance of different sulfide, selenide, and metal–organic-framework-based materials and their composites. Additionally, the book features special chapters dealing with polymer electrolyte-based hybrid supercapacitors for lightweight flexible devices, and the unique challenges present in fabricating, patenting, and commercializing flexible devices for uptake in the broader market. This book is ideal for materials engineers and scientists working in supercapacitor research and technology.

Dr. Anil Arya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi. He was earlier a D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellow at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. He has authored and co-authored 80+ publications, including research articles, review articles, conference proceedings, and 15+ book chapters with international publishers. His research interests include the development of electrode and electrolyte materials for lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and other energy-storage devices. He has also edited books with leading international publishers, including Taylor & Francis and Springer, and his research broadly focuses on advanced materials and nanocomposites for energy-storage and energy-conversion applications.

Prof. Annu Sharma is a Professor in the Department of Physics at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic supervision. She has authored and co-authored 100 + publications, including research articles, conference papers, and book chapters in international publications. Her research interests include nanomaterials, polymer nanocomposites, dielectric and optical materials, ion-beam-induced nanostructures, and advanced energy-storage materials. She has guided several PhD scholars and actively mentors researchers in interdisciplinary areas of materials science and nanotechnology. Her recent research focuses on advanced nanocomposite electrode materials for supercapacitors and other energy-storage devices.

Dr. A. L. Sharma is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Central University of Punjab, Bathinda.
