Multiple Spiritual Participation and the African Diaspora in the Caribbean

A Post/Decolonial Analysis and Intercultural Spiritual Care Perspective

Héctor E. López-Sierra

Religion / Psychology of Religion

This book contributes to the contemporary and diverse field of Pastoral and Practical Theology by putting forward an intercultural and liberation model of spiritual caregiving and post-pastoral and practical theology from the Greater Antillean Spanish-speaking Afro-Caribben. It provides post-pastoral, spiritual, theological, interfaith, and pedagogical examples of the accompaniment and caregiving of persons and communities for holistic well-being in an Afro-Diasporic sociocultural context. It also offers case studies showing how the post/decolonial and spiritual post-pastoral caregiving process has implications for spiritual Spanish-speaking Afro-Caribbean and the African diaspora, where multiple spiritual and religious participation expresses the struggle for survival, liberation, autonomy, and self-determination. This work is a must for scholars interested in religion and heath care.
