Rapid technological change, geopolitical tensions, rising protectionism, the clean-energy transition and shifting supply chains are reshaping trade and making established pathways to growth more challenging, particularly for developing economies. Drawing on studies from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East, this volume examines these transformations and identifies policies, partnerships and investments that can help trade remain a driver of inclusive and sustainable development. It also considers the implications for Canada, including its role in supporting developing economies and opportunities to diversify trade and investment amid growing US protectionism.

Yiagadeesen Samy is Professor of International Affairs and Director of the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) at Carleton University.
