Gendered Violence
Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and Recovery

The framework of this book is collectively underpinned by four key areas that draw from either or both the Istanbul Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (the ‘Istanbul Convention’) and Australia’s National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children (2022-2032). The book addresses the imperatives of national and international policy agendas by situating the book’s contents within four overarching thematic areas: Prevention, Protection, Response and Recovery. Within these thematic areas, the book explores topics relating to violence against women and children, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, family violence, same-sex violence, the impact of intersectionality, and the legal and non-legal regulation of violence.
Each chapter is informed by research that has international applicability and relevance, facilitating the transfer of knowledge, with policy and practice benefits, to other researchers, students, communities, and grassroots organisations, legal professionals, people with lived experience, and practitioners working within the domestic, family and sexual violence sectors.
