In the contributions to\nthis book three major  aspects are dealt with:\n- Quantitative extrapolations of experimental data  to the\n situation possibly relevant for man.\n- The significance for a   risk assessment with respect to man\n of minor or rare structural            abnormalities observed in\n experimental studies\n- The future need to    assess congenital dysfunctions (e.g. of\n the hormone or the immune system)  beside the present\n evaulation of structural defects.\nLimitations as    well as gaps of the present knowledge in this\narea of basic and applied     research are pointed out.
