This textbook focuses on electronic materials, such as conductors, dielectrics, and inorganic and organic semiconductors, as well as their applications. The general applications section describes the physical basics, while the subchapters provide in-depth information on specific applications. Complex questions enable learners to independently assess their knowledge.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Wellmann is Professor of Materials for Electronics and Energy Technology at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen–Nuremberg. His research focuses on the crystal growth and characterization of semiconductor materials. He is an active member of several professional societies. In recognition of his teaching excellence, he was awarded the Bavarian State Ministry’s “Award for Good Teaching 2012” (presented in 2013) and the Technical Teaching Prize of the Faculty of Engineering at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen–Nuremberg in 2017.
