The book argues that the rise of Chinese sociology will depend crucially on whether the rich heritage of traditional Chinese sociology can be fully appreciated and integrated with the Western tradition of learning. Following two preliminary chapters laying out \u003ci\u003equnxue\u003c\/i\u003e’s basic paramters, the four remaining chapters focus on its four primary concerns: cultivation of the self (\u003ci\u003exiushen\u003c\/i\u003e), regulation of the family (\u003ci\u003eqijia\u003c\/i\u003e), governance of the state (\u003ci\u003ezhiguo\u003c\/i\u003e), and realization of universal peace (\u003ci\u003epingtianxia\u003c\/i\u003e).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\u003cdiv\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eJing Tiankui, Ph.D.\u003c\/b\u003e is a Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Deputy Director of the CASS Academic Division of Social, Political and Legal Studies, research fellow and doctoral advisor at the CASS Institute of Sociology. His research specialties include social epistemology, social science methodology, and philosophy of sociology.
