It offers cognitive accounts of the semantic, grammatical, pragmatic and cultural issues, and constructs theoretical models on the wide range of topics including categorization, conceptual metaphor and metonymy, polysemy, iconicity, subjectivity, frame, construal, conceptual integration, relevance, and textual cognition in translation. It presents a more inclusive cognitive linguistic approach to translation studies, especially theoretical modeling of translation process, translational cognition, and the cognitive mechanism underlying the linguistic shifts and translation strategies, with detailed analysis on different types of translation cases.

Dr. Wen Xu is Professor of linguistics, College of International Studies at Southwest University, Chongqing, China, where he lectures on semantics, and cognitive linguistics.
